We are currently mailing out packets about our student essay contest to teachers and administrators all over the state. We are asking 8th grade students to write a 1-2 page essay and tell us about a couple they know who have a great marriage. We want to know who they are, what makes their marriage great, and what the student has learned from them.
The essay winners will win $100, teachers of winners will win a $50 gift certificate, and the couple the student writes about will receive a $50 gift card to dinner. Winners, teachers, and couples will also be invited to attend a special celebration of marriage at the Governor’s mansion hosted by Governor Bob Riley and Mrs. Patsy Riley on February 17, 2008 during Alabama Healthy Marriage Month.
